We are looking for a Product Designer

We are looking for a Product Designer — High-Agency, AI-First

We’re hiring a Product Designer to own UX for a real-time collaborative product-industrialization platform used by hardware R&D and manufacturing teams. This is a leadership-minded IC role for someone who operates with near-complete autonomy, exercises excellent judgment, and brings practical, hands-on experience using AI to accelerate design and delivery. Seniority is flexible — we’ll hire a more junior designer with exceptional taste, drive and an AI-first mindset.

We are Encube

Encube is building a real-time collaborative product-industrialization platform used by hardware R&D and manufacturing teams. We help companies move from concept to manufacturable product faster, smarter and with fewer surprises.

We’re looking for a Product Designer with very high agency and an AI-first mindset. This is not a role where you wait for tickets. You’ll own outcomes end-to-end, from problem definition and research to shipped product and measurable impact.

What you’ll do

  • Own outcomes, not tasks: define problems, run discovery, ship MLPs, measure impact, and iterate — end-to-end.
  • Proactively set roadmaps and influence priorities across Product, Engineering and Commercial teams.
  • Run independent research and validation with manufacturing engineers and enterprise customers; convert findings into clear product decisions.
  • Design complex interactions and high-fidelity prototypes for the Canvas and app
  • Build and maintain our design system and a scalable dev-handoff pipeline. Continuously improve that workflow.
  • Define success metrics for design work, run usability tests, and iterate based on measurable outcomes.

AI: practical, measurable expertise (required)

We expect the hire to know when and how to use AI to make design measurably better and faster, including:

  • Using generative models / LLMs for ideation, rapid prototyping, microcopy, variant generation, and accessibility suggestions.
  • Applying AI to user research (synthesis, thematic analysis, automated transcript summarization) and hypothesis generation.
  • Building prompt strategies and guardrails that produce reliable outputs and mitigate risks (hallucination, bias).
  • Integrating AI into the design→dev lifecycle (automated design tokens, component scaffolding, test generation, linking Figma to code/Storybook).
  • Creating KPIs for AI initiatives (e.g., reduce design cycle time, increase prototype throughput, improve test coverage) and tracking impact.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable work > a title. A strong portfolio that shows end-to-end product thinking, interaction design, and clear outcomes or strong design sensibility. We care about what you’ve built and how you thought about it.
  • Very high agency. Proven ability to operate independently in a scrappy environment: set direction, make tradeoffs, communicate decisions clearly, and drive work forward without being told.
  • Clear ownership of our product’s visual/graphic expression. This role must set and uphold a coherent, modern, intuitive, and compliant visual language across the product — balancing complex enterprise workflows with clarity and elegance. This is not easy. It requires exceptional taste, finesse, and consistency.
  • Practical experience with design systems, component libraries, and improving design→dev handoff.
  • Hands-on AI experience: you’ve used LLMs or generative tools in repeatable design workflows or production, and can explain tradeoffs, prompt strategy, and integration choices.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and judgement; comfortable influencing across Product, Eng and Commercial functions.
  • Flexible seniority. We welcome talented junior designers with excellent taste and high agency — some prior experience working in a product/company setting is preferred, but not mandatory.

Nice to have

  • Background with CAD, manufacturability, mechanical/industrial design, or hardware engineering.
  • Experience designing AI-assisted tooling or developer productivity workflows.
  • Enterprise product experience (consultative sales motion or PLG transition knowledge).

Why you’ll love working here

You’ll define the UX and tooling that help hardware teams move from concept to manufacturable product faster. In a small, fast team where high agency and thoughtful use of AI directly increase our speed and impact, your work will shape both product and process.

  • Impact from day one. You’ll shape systems and decisions that define the backbone of Encube’s platform.
  • Autonomy and trust. We operate with high ownership, high agency, high trust and minimal bureaucracy.
  • Collaborative culture. Work closely with a talented, truth-seeking, and humble team that values learning, experimentation and impact over ego.
  • Grow by building product that supercharges hardware engineering, solves hard problems, works at large scale and genuinely innovates.
  • Engineering excellence. Join a company where high standards are the norm and everyone on the team deserves to be here.

Sound like you?

If you enjoy combining deep algorithmic engineering with real product constraints, and want to build the geometric foundations of a fast-growing deep-tech startup, we’d love to hear from you. Come help us define what world-class computational geometry looks like at Encube.
